How do I search for a job on the website?

Step One: Hover over the Careers tab in the menu.

Step Two: Click on the area of H-E-B you’re most interested in.

Step Three: Click ‘Learn More’

Step Four: Find the role you would like to apply for, then click “View Jobs.”

Step Five: You’ll be redirected to our H-E-B Careers Application Portal where you will be able to filter by location and apply.

I made it to the job portal, but how do I use the zip code search?

After you get to the H-E-B Careers search portal, click on the locations drop down menu located under the search bar.

From there, you have the option to search locations based on the following: All Locations, Current Location, Zip Code or specific cities.

Click on Zip Code and then you can input your zip code and distance you would like to search.

How do I check my application status?

The status of an application can be viewed by logging into your account on careers.heb.com. Instructions can be found in the email you received after submitting your application.

How do I reset my password?

When on the login page, please enter your username and password then press continue. If your information is wrong, please click “reset your password.”

What is the minimum age requirement to work in a store?

The minimum age requirement to work is 16 for Curbies, Shoppers, Baggers (Customer Service Assistants) and Checkers.

All other store positions have a minimum age of 18 years old.

I have an interview but can't remember who my contact person is.

Please check the email you used to apply. All communication will be sent there, including your interview confirmation, which includes the name of your point of contact.

How can I apply to a new store that is opening? What is the timeframe of when applications are posted for new stores?

All new store jobs will be posted on our website (careers.heb.com) under the Store tab. Every new store is different and every hiring timeline varies. We recommend you set up a job alert for that store. You can also follow us on social media for updates and open positions.

Why did I not get selected for an interview or the job?

Some of the most common reasons candidates are not selected are:

  • Availability did not match the job requirements.
  • Minimum qualifications are not met.
  • The position was filled.
  • Other applications had more specific experience/ qualifications.

Can I speak with a recruiter about my application or my interview?

Due to the high volume of applications we receive, our recruiters do not provide feedback on applications or interviews.

Why hasn't my application status updated yet? It's been 2+ weeks?

Depending on the volume of candidates, some positions take longer than others. Keep checking your email and My Careers account for updates.

Am I eligible for rehire?

Thank you for your interest in rejoining H-E-B! You are welcome to apply at any time, and your application will be considered for the position for which you apply. However, as with any position, keep in mind that we do consider previous employment and the reason for separation. The most qualified applicants will be selected.

After I apply, how will I be contacted?

Once you have applied on careers.heb.com, you will receive an email confirming your application has been received. If you are selected to move forward in the interviewing process an H-E-B recruiter will email or call you. Please note that all recruiters reach out with an H-E-B email address. If someone reaches out to you without an H-E-B email or from a third party company, it is a fraudulent job poster.

Does H-E-B or its Recruiting Partners charge any fees for applying, training, or employment?

H-E-B Recruiters will never ask for any personal information through email, text or phone call. We never request payment from applicants during the recruitment process.

What do I do if I suspect I applied to a fraudulent application offering employment opportunities from H-E-B?

If you applied through a third party job board that is not managed by H-E-B, you need to inform that company of the fraudulent job.

I am getting a reCAPTCHA error message. What should I do?

We recommend clearing your cache and browser history, then navigating to the careers.heb.com site.

Where can I apply for jobs?

We do not accept applications at the store. You can review and apply for available positions on our H-E-B Careers Website (careers.heb.com)

Are you hiring on the spot?

No. All offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.

What is the minimum age requirement to work in a store?

The minimum age requirement to work is 16 for baggers and checkers. All other store positions have a minimum age of 18 years old.

Is the Digital Interview Mandatory?

Yes. However, if you require accommodations you can reach out to recruiting@heb.com.

I applied and I want the status of my application. When will I hear something?

We are experiencing a large volume of applicants and are reviewing them as quickly as possible. You can review the status of your application by logging into your account on careers.heb.com. Instructions can be found in the email you received after you submitted your application.

What store will I work in?

You will select the store that is closest to your home on the application, but may have the opportunity to work at other stores depending on your preference and store needs.

Can I speak with a store Partner about my application or my interview. Will going into the store help my chances of getting hired?

We do not accept applications in stores. We have corporate recruiters dedicated to store hiring. Store Partners are not involved in the temporary hiring process and therefore will not be able to answer any questions about the hiring process or update you on your application status.

How long does the short-term employment last? Am I eligible to become a regular full or part time Partner?

We expect the assignments for short-term Partners to last no more than 8 weeks, unless otherwise extended.All short-term Partners who are interested in becoming a regular Partner will have the opportunityto apply for full/part-time opportunities within H-E-B or JoeV’s.

How can I check the status of my application? Can I revise it?

You can review the status of your application by logging into your account on careers.heb.com. Instructions can also be found in the email you received after you submitted your application.

Can I revise my application?

You cannot revise your application after submitting. However, you can apply to other open positions you would like to be considered for.

Is there a pre-employment drug test?

A pre-employment drug test isn’t required but all short-term Partners are required to sign H-E-B’s Drug Free Workplace Policy and are subject to random drug screenings.

How many hours will I be working?

Hours may vary depending on the open shifts posted by each of the stores. Overnight stockers will be expected to work shifts between 11pm – 7am.

If hired, how often will I get paid?

All Partners are paid on a weekly basis every Thursday. Your first paycheck will be processed the Monday after your first day of work.

What kind of benefits do short-term Partners receive?

Short-term Partners are not eligible for benefits.

What is HireVue?

HireVue is a video interview tool that allows us to get to know an applicant outside of just their resume and application. Applicants will be prompted to answer questions that highlight skills and ability to do the job.

Why should I complete the HireVue Video? Is it mandatory?

Yes, the HireVue video is mandatory for full and part time positions. HireVue is a video interviewing tool that helps us get to know you and helps you stand out from your paper resume. Taking the time to complete this interview will only help you succeed in our application process.

I can't access the HireVue online interview.

Make sure you are using the correct username provided in your email invitation. If you are using the correct username, then click forgot password.

Can I do an interview over the phone or in person instead of a video?

All candidates are required to complete their HireVue interview. If you are moved forward in the process a recruiter will reach out to you for a phone interview.

Is there another way to do an interview if I cannot get HireVue to work on my phone or computer?

The OnDemand interview is not mandatory. You can still be considered based on the information provided on the resume and/or application submitted.

How can I fix or retake my HireVue interview? (Computer issues, don't like the response I gave, couldn't get it to load, or the link expired).

No retake is necessary, candidates will still be considered based off the information provided on the application/ resume submitted.

Do I need to complete multiple video interviews if I applied for more than one position?

Each position requires different skills and experience, we ask that candidates complete an interview for every application they submit.

I can't find the red button it says to press to start my video interview.

You may have images disabled on your email browser. At the bottom you may see a white box with a red X, if you hover over it, you should be able to click and go to the link. You may also need to allow images to be shown in your email preferences.

I am unable to log-in to my account to take the OnDemand interview.

Make sure you are using the correct username- provided in your email invitation. Then click forget password. Check email for updates.

Can I take the HireVue OnDemand interview in Spanish or ASL?

The OnDemand interview has questions listed in both English and Spanish. If applicable you can respond in your native language or ASL.

Where should I report HireVue technical issues?

I can't find any available time to schedule my interview.

We recommend that you check back daily for more dates to become available.

I am receiving "unknown error" while recording my interview. What do I do?

For best experience and results, be sure you are connected to a private Wi-Fi network and your browser version is updated to the most recent version. Clearing your cache is also recommended!

How do I test my network?

Check your network test here to ensure that you have a great experience.

I was not directed to complete a digital interview and my application status is showing incomplete application.

If you have completed a digital interview with identical questions in the past 30 days, you will not need to complete again at this time. You will still need to click on the link for the digital interview, and then you will be taken directly to the application confirmation page. Failure to click on the link will leave your application as pending completion.

How do I change the time zone?

When a candidate logs in, on their dashboard, they will need to select “Update Your Profile”

Should I complete the HireVue video?

Yes! HireVue is a video interviewing tool that helps us get to know you and helps you stand out from your paper resume. Taking the time to complete this interview will only help you succeed in our application process.

When will I hear back on the status of my application?

Our Recruiting team is currently in the process of reviewing applications. As we receive thousands of applications each year the time range that candidates hear back can vary.

After I have completed my HireVue what are the next steps?

Our Recruiting Team will review applications for our current Summer Intern Program. If you are selected to move forward, a Recruiter will be in contact with you regarding next steps.

I don’t see any Internship postings online. Did I miss the deadline?

Thank you for your interest in internship opportunities at H-E-B! Unfortunately, all of our internship postings have closed for this upcoming summer. If a summer internship opportunity does become available you will be able to apply by visiting our Internship Page. Please keep H-E-B on your scope as applications for our Summer 2024 Internship Program will open in September 2023!

What do I do if I am interested in multiple Internship areas?

If you are interested in multiple Internship areas, please feel free to apply to any of the ones you feel you are qualified for! H-E-B has many different opportunities and we urge you to take a look at all of them. When the Recruiting team reviews your application they will work with you to direct you to the department that best fits you!
