Mini Cream Cheese Fruit Danishes Recipe (1)

One of my favorite things about going on vacation when we were young were the danishes some hotels have out for breakfast. I am sure they just dreaded seeing our family of 8 heading toward the pastry table because we would clear them out! What can I say? We love our pastries! These danishes are so tasty and have only 3 ingredients!

Ingredients

Glaze

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 400° F. Carefully unroll the dough on a lightly floured surface. Divide along the dotted lines into 4 equal rectangles.

  • Working with 1 rectangle at a time, gently pinch and smooth the dough to eliminate the diagonal dotted lines. Trim the dough along one side to approximate a square.

  • Place 1 tablespoon of cream cheese and 1 tablespoon of jam in the center of each square. Fold each corner to the center of the square, pinching them together. Transfer to a baking sheet. Bake until golden brown, 18 to 20 minutes.

Glaze

  • In a small bowl, mix together powdered sugar, vanilla and milk to create icing. You may need to add more milk to get the desired consistency. Drizzle icing over danishes.

I actually got 7 Danishes out of one 8oz. Roll of dough. I cut two of the longer rectangles in half using a pizza slicer. And combined the two pieces I cut off. I didn't see a point in throwing out any of the dough

  8. Kelley says:

Do you think I can make them ahead for a girls' weekend? If I made them on Thursday and we ate them Saturday morning?

  9. Six Sisters says:

Oh no! I hope I am not too late! Finally getting around to emails. I think they would be okay to make them in advance. Just store them in an airtight container after they have cooled and put them in the fridge.

I decided to make these today, and they probably would have turned out great, IF I would have went by the baking time on the crescent roll package rather than setting the timer for the 18mins in your recipe. I now have burnt danishes. =(

Made these tonight, after just seeing them on fb this morning! They were promptly "shared" and pinned, to make sure I could find them when I was ready. Everyone loved them! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe. Incidentally, it appears my oven is a bit on the warm side, I should have gone for 15-16 minutes. But they were only slightly overdone.:D Not burnt, just dark. And I think I should have tried pinching up the corners a bit to keep the homemade jam from leaking out. I also got 6 Danishes...Which gives me an interesting conundrum. When do 8 triangles make 6 squares?! :DSo glad you shared this recipe! We will be repeating it more often, and trying more flavor variations.
